Here are the final details and timetable for this year’s course at Rydal Hall.
The course starts on Saturday 27th July, with the first rehearsal at 7.30pm in the Bishop Bulley Barn. The Barn is situated 100 yards behind Rydal Hall, up a flight of stone steps.
For those staying in the Hall, your rooms will be ready from 4pm, and the first evening meal will be at 6.00pm.
Breakfast is at 8.30am, and the morning rehearsal starts at 9.30am, finishing at noon. Dinner is at 6pm, followed by the evening rehearsal, from 7.30 – 9.30pm. Lunchtime and afternoons are free for you to fill how you choose. There will be plenty of people happy to play chamber music with you if you’d like to do this.
N.B. on Tuesday and Thursday there will be a bonus strings-only session from 12-12.30pm. Also – there is no rehearsal at all on Wednesday morning, i.e. the only rehearsal on that day will be in the evening. The final rehearsal is on Friday evening and the course ends after breakfast on Saturday 3rd August.
Remember to bring:
- Music stands, preferably labelled
- Stand lights if you use them
- If you have access to a set of orchestral or chamber music parts then feel free to bring them along
- Appropriate clothing for all seasons!
If you have any special dietary requirements (allergies, vegetarian, lactose intolerant etc) then let me know so that I can pass this on to the kitchen. Also, if you have any other requirements then tell me so that I can make arrangements with the hall wherever possible.
For lunch, there is a café on site, and the hall can provide packed lunches on request. There are also plenty of local cafés and hostelries in the surrounding area.
The Rydal Hall bar will be open for refreshments after each evening rehearsal.
