Rydal 2027
Rydal 2027 will be from Saturday 24th July to Saturday 31st July 2027
The first rehearsal will be on Saturday 24th July 2027 at 7.30pm in the Bishop Bulley Barn. The Barn is situated 100 yards behind Rydal Hall, up a flight of stone steps.
For those staying in the Hall, your rooms will be ready from 4pm, and the first evening meal will probably be at 6.00pm (to be confirmed).
Breakfast each day is at 8am, and morning rehearsals start at 9.30am, finishing at noon. Dinner will be followed by the evening rehearsal, from 7.30 – 9.30pm. Lunchtime and afternoons are free for you to fill how you choose. There will be plenty of people happy to play chamber music with you if you’d like to do this.
N.B. on Tuesday and Thursday there is a bonus strings-only session from 12-12.30pm. Also – there is no rehearsal at all on Wednesday morning, i.e. the only rehearsal on that day will be in the evening. The final rehearsal is on Friday evening, followed by the WORLD FAMOUS QUIZ, and the course ends after breakfast on Saturday 31st July.
Remember to bring:
- Instruments;
- Music stands, labelled;
- Stand lights if you use them; and
- Appropriate clothing for all seasons!
If you have access to sets of orchestral or chamber music parts then feel free to bring them along too.
Let us know in advance if you have any special dietary requirements (allergies, vegetarian, lactose intolerant etc). Also let us know if you have any other specific requirements so that we can make arrangements with the hall wherever possible.
For lunch, there is a café on site, and the hall can provide packed lunches on request (at a cost). There are also plenty of local cafés and hostelries in the surrounding area.
The Rydal Hall bar will be open for refreshments after each evening rehearsal.
Costs for 2027 will be confirmed in due course. For reference only, 2026 costs were as follows:

If you want to play but not stay in the hall, the costs are:

For 2027 we have reserved the full hall for the Genin Orchestra, but any rooms which we have not filled will be released back to the Hall at the end of May. So please reserve your place as soon as possible, to avoid disappointment.
If you intend to come, please let us know. We’d like to know:
- Type of room (single, double, twin, single occupancy of a double or none at all if you’re making your own accommodation arrangements)
- N.B. There are always more people who want single rooms than there are single rooms available in the Hall. If you want a single room, please indicate whether or not you would be prepared to share in the event that all singles are occupied
- Which nights you would like to stay (preference will be given to players coming for the full week)
- Any roommate preferences if you’re in a twin / double room
- Your instrument
- Any dietary requirements
Once we have final cost details you will be able to pay whenever you like, so long as we have payment in full by 31 May 2027.
